YOUR LEARNING SPACE

Privacy, plainly.

Soma stores downloaded papers, notes, working photos and solo progress on your device. A signed-in account stores your email, display name, country, access status and payment references in Soma’s dedicated Firebase project. Flutterwave handles card and mobile-money details. Country pricing does not require sharing your location with other learners.

Study together

Name search is optional, off by default and limited to learners who are online. It does not show your email, location or results. Connections and study invitations require acceptance. Shared tests synchronize selected questions, answers, suggestions and a timer through the study server. You can decline, leave or block a learner.

Private chat

New chat text, pictures and voice notes are end-to-end encrypted before transmission. The server can retain encrypted, undelivered packets for up to 30 days, subject to capacity limits. After the receiving device confirms a durable save, the server removes the delivered packet. Delivered chat history stays on your device until you delete it; ending a study session does not erase it. Remaining text from older sessions can be imported locally, with its older server copy cleared after both participants confirm that import.

Connection metadata and shared-test controls are processed by the server. Chat uses a new NaCl-based implementation with static identity keys; an independent security review is outstanding. You can compare safety numbers and must confirm a changed contact key. There is no live multi-device chat synchronization.

Deletion, view once and backup

Delete for me removes this device’s copy. Delete for everyone requests removal on the recipient’s device; it cannot guarantee removal of screenshots, copies or older backups. View-once attachments are removed from the local viewer after opening and excluded from backups. Screen-capture protection is used where supported, but another camera or a compromised device can still copy content.

Chat backup is optional and manual. With your Google permission, Soma saves a passphrase-encrypted backup in your own Google Drive app-data folder. Soma’s backend does not receive the backup, Drive token or passphrase. You need the passphrase to restore it. Backups currently support up to 50 MB and exclude view-once media, old delivery packets and device identity keys. Restoration merges history and keeps newer local deletions. A new installation has a new chat safety number.

Sharing achievements

Sharing opens your device’s share chooser. Nothing is posted automatically. The text identifies a practice result or study milestone and includes a Soma link with a campaign tag. It does not claim an official exam grade. Choose where and with whom to share.

Optional advertising measurement

Marketing measurement is off until an adult visitor opts in. If connected, Meta Pixel can receive page visits and practice or download clicks. A click is not an installation. Verified purchase events require the configured backend and applicable consent. No chat content, questions, answers, notes or working photos are sent to advertising services. Rejecting measurement does not block the service.

Email, notifications and updates

Account and payment messages use Soma’s Gmail relay. Prepaid passes do not renew or charge automatically. You can control renewal reminders and device notifications in Settings. Private-message notifications contain a generic notice, not the message text.

The direct Android app can offer a user-confirmed update, with download progress and checks for its hash, package, version and signer. Release downloads use Soma’s backend, Google Drive and Cloudflare. A normal signed update keeps app data. Removing the app can remove local data.

Your account and source papers

You can delete your account after confirming your identity. Pseudonymous payment records may remain for reconciliation. Source papers retain their publisher references. Newer publisher links do not imply permission to redistribute or embed that publisher’s content.
